"I
went to Lari and, from its
fortress, I pointed at a vast
land, the must beautiful part of
Tuscany",
Leopoldo II Asburgo-Lorena,
Granduca di Toscana, 1847.
Surely
Lari is one of the most
beautiful sites of the Pisa’s
Province. The centre of the
town, the heart of Lari from the
Etrurian age, is powered by a
medieval fortress which has
restored in the seventeenth
century. To reach the top of it,
you walk caressing sweet hills
covered with a rich vegetation
and good plough fields. Although
it is located only 130 mt above
sea level, from Lari you can see
a panorama which goes from the
Mounts of Pisa to the Balze of
Volterra and from the Leghorn
coast to the interior Pisa’s
Province. It’s delightful to
cross its walls, to lose oneself
thorough its streets, to
discover the history of it, to
be amazed by the sudden opening
of natural sceneries, to take
refuge between the fortress
walls.
